How to measure your wrist & get the best bracelet fit
We are all different shapes and sizes with difference style and fit preferences! So let’s discuss today how to figure out your ideal dimensions for bracelets. That will make your shopping experience much better, easier and more fun when you’re browsing at My Beading Art!
When you’re in the middle of shopping mode, no one feels like getting up to dig for a tape measure, so I suggest you do it after reading this and keep a little note in your phone or by your side table. Creating a list in advance is also great if you have kids and others to buy for, and therefore lots of measurements to keep track of.
I can’t stand jewelry that looks good but is uncomfortable to wear, or worse, won’t close! So lets make sure together that doesn’t happen.
As a general rule, I suggest bracelets should be 1/2 inch to a full inch larger than your snug wrist measurement.
Also keep in mind, the thickness of the bracelet will affect the fit. A thin little chain versus a chunky wooden bead bracelet may both hit the 7. 5 inch mark on your tape measure, but those bracelets will seem like different lengths sitting on your wrist. So the best plan is to start with and accurate wrist measurement!
If you’re ordering a custom piece from me, I will use that to estimate the best length for you based on the size of materials and your fit preference of “snug” or “loose”. If you’re browsing my ready-to-go bracelets, allow for an inch to an inch and a half for a really chunky piece. And by all means, you’re welcome to message me first with your info and ask if it will work for you. (I can often adjust in advance, if need be.)
Check out the links (below my photo) to a few short video clips I posted recently, showing you how to measure your wrist and how to get the best bracelet fit. These are posted on my new TikTok account, but you do not need your own to view them. If you do have a TikTok account, please like, comment and follow me on there!
Necklaces have more flexibility in terms of women’s wardrobes, so I'm going to expand on those, and sizing for other jewelry types, in a separate blog and will update the link here when its ready. But enough to say that for now, we can wear short, mid length, long and even extra long necklaces with the right outfit.
