Jewelry is something special and fancy to us adults, and many kids love it too! If you’re tired of buying toys that are hit or miss, or get dumped all over the floor and become the next “to do” item, opting for jewelry for a birthday or holiday gift is a great idea!
I design beaded jewelry for girls and boys, five years and older, and teens. I usually stick to casual, everyday jewelry, but I do have some pieces in my kids jewelry collection that are dressier and higher end necklaces, made with sterling silver and crystal, like this one.
I have also designed custom jewelry for children in a wedding party or attending special events. Contact me anytime with questions or ideas.
My kids jewelry is perhaps a bit more colourful and playful than adult jewelry, but I specifically don’t make most pieces too “childish” looking because they grow out of that cutesy baby stage pretty quickly! And it’s nice when they can enjoy jewelry, especially nice handmade pieces, for several years.
For girls, I have tons of cute beaded necklaces with lobster clasps, beaded stretchy bracelets and necklaces that are stretchy, and just go over the head. Charm necklaces and charm bracelets are also very fun and can be custom made in matching necklace bracelets sets and friendship jewelry sets. I often use glass, acrylic and wood beads for these and I have some diffuser pieces for kids that include lava stone beads meant for essential oils. Some people believe that certain essential oils can help with anxiety and headaches, etc., so wearing the essential oils in diffuser jewelry can provide calming effects throughout the day. For more on this, read my blog on diffuser jewelry.
For boys, I love designing masculine necklaces in shorter lengths so dads and sons can have matching ones if they like! I usually stick with glass and wooden beads for boys necklaces, and can also do custom pieces with gemstones. These are often 14 - 16 inches long for boys. Teens would need 16 or 18 inches and larger, depending on their neck size. Contact me to have a bracelet or necklace that you purchased from me years ago, made bigger for your growing child!
I want to note here, that as a designer, I grab for favourite colours and combinations that traditionally appeal to girls and boys, and I list them in my online shop as such so people searching specifically with gender terms like “ girls necklace” or “boys bracelet” can find my item listings. However, as a mom, and protector of the spiritual “village” which contains ALL of our kids, including LGBTQ+, I assure you these terms and descriptions are not meant to limit or exclude! If HE likes a sparkly pendant, it’s for HIM. If a brown, woody, earthy necklace speaks to HER, it’s for her. And perhaps your jewelry lover is a “THEY”. Fit is the only important thing when buying jewelry, and that can be changed too.
