Hedy Huk is a self-taught beader and has been making jewelry since she was a kid – when nothing was more exciting than a few hours in a bead store. Her mind would spin as she set eyes on beads she’d never imagined before, mixing and matching new beads with ones in her collection. She dreamed of all the possible designs she could create with the perfect balance of bead shapes, sizes, colours and textures.

 

As Hedy’s bead collection grew, so did her interest in jewelry-making techniques and the art of stringing beads. The more pieces she created, the further her skills developed, and the more passionate she became about designing jewelry.

 

Hedy is inspired by the contrasting earth tones of fall leaves, the way melody and harmony lines play with each other in folk music, the soothing sensations of lying on a warm beach when it’s snowy back home, and the smell of a campfire on a chilly summer night.

 

Before starting My Beading Art, Hedy completed a Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications and Sociology, and a Masters of Arts degree in Journalism. Her work experience includes writing and producing television news and Marketing Communications.

 

Hedy is happily married with one son and a wonderful group of family and friends.
